Terms and Conditions

General rules and information

Upon registering for courses at Speak Norsk, students accept that:

• It is the responsibility of the individual student to maintain awareness of class dates, days, times, hours, and course duration.

• It is the responsibility of the individual student to provide correct personal information through which he or she can be contacted. It is also the responsibility of the student to inform the reception or administration if any changes shall occur. The school needs to have updated contact details in order to remain in touch with the student regarding course announcements and important information.

• All requests and questions addressed to the school will only be considered valid and binding via written email communication. Course postponements or rescheduling will not be considered valid if communicated by phone.

• All inquiries about schedules and courses shall be addressed to the reception or administration, not teachers.

• All communication with Speak Norsk staff should remain professional and limited to official communication channels.

• Course teachers and location may be subject to change under certain circumstances.

• Course registration is confirmed under the name of the registrant alone and cannot be transferred to other students.

• Guests of students are not permitted on school premises for the full or partial duration of courses unless permission is granted expressly by Speak Norsk staff in advance and in writing via information@speaknorsk.no.

• Speak Norsk’s original materials cannot be shared with external parties, either physically or digitally. Failure to comply will be considered a breach of confidentiality, and Speak Norsk may take further legal action.

• Speak Norsk maintains zero tolerance for discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation of Speak Norsk staff, teachers, or students. Failure to comply with this regulation will result in immediate removal of the student from the school and may be subject to further legal action.

• At the end of each level, students who have attended a minimum of 80% of the course are entitled to receive a course certificate upon written request submitted to information@speaknorsk.no.

Attendance & Progression

Course completion requires satisfactory participation and attendance.

Students who have formally completed a level but have missed a significant number of lessons may be required to repeat the level before progressing further.

If repetition is deemed necessary, this requirement is mandatory. Failure to comply may result in the student not being permitted to continue to the next level.

• Speak Norsk retains the right to withhold the participant’s course certificate if the student has not entirely completed the payment for the course.

Teaching language and lessons

• All courses are taught exclusively in Norwegian.

• One Norwegian lesson represents 45 minutes of instruction in standard group classes. A full level course consists of 2760 minutes of instruction, equivalent to 61.3 teaching hours over a 6-week duration.

Classroom rules

• The participant is required to bring all necessary course materials to each lesson. If materials are forgotten, the student may request a copy from reception, which must be returned after class.

• Teachers follow the course curriculum. If a student requires additional materials or exercises, he or she may request online assistance or follow-up outside class hours, without disturbing classroom continuity.

• In the case of typos, errors, omissions, or other mistakes on the website concerning course dates, schedules, or information, Speak Norsk reserves the right to correct such errors without prior notice.

• Students are required to arrive on time. Repeated lateness (more than 10 minutes) may result in an official warning from the teacher.

• School reception is open:

Monday–Thursday: 08:45–17:15 (Lunch break: 13:00–14:00)
Friday: 11:30–19:30 (Lunch break: 15:30–16:00)

Students are asked not to arrive earlier than 08:30 for courses starting at 09:00 and no later than 17:15 for courses starting at 17:00.

• Phones must be set to vibration mode during class.

• Questions regarding class content, materials, or homework may be asked during lessons or if the teacher invites a short discussion after class. Teachers may refuse to answer questions during breaks.

Minimum participants

• A minimum of 6 participants is required to start a scheduled course.

Speak Norsk reserves the right to cancel or postpone courses if the number of confirmed participants is lower than required. The school also reserves the right to adjust start dates, times, and teachers accordingly.

In such cases, students will be offered seats in other groups or schedules, with the possibility to choose between postponement or alternative solutions.
